Does it slow down my browser? +
Nope. The animation runs on a lightweight canvas overlay that doesn't interfere with the page at all. You won't notice any performance difference.
Will the website owner see my overlay? +
No. The overlay only exists in your browser. It's injected on top of the page locally โ nobody else sees it, and nothing is sent to the website.
Can I use it on any website? +
Yes, almost any website. You assign profiles to specific domains and it fires automatically every time you visit. Note that Chrome's own pages (like the Chrome Web Store and chrome:// pages) are blocked by Google for all extensions โ this is a Chrome security restriction, not specific to Vibe Overlay. Most sites like YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, X and any news or social site work perfectly.
How does the Pro license work? +
After purchasing on Gumroad you'll receive a license key by email. Enter it in the extension settings and Pro unlocks instantly. It's a one-time purchase โ no subscription, no expiry.
What happens when I get future updates? +
Pro users get all updates at a small upgrade price rather than full price. Free users always keep access to the free tier features.
Can I use it to prank someone? +
100% yes and we fully encourage it. Set up a profile with "GET OUT" or "HELL NAH" in Impact font, assign it to their favorite site, and hand them your laptop. You're welcome.
Does it work on Chrome only? +
Currently Chrome only โ but it also works on Brave, Edge, and any other Chromium-based browser. Firefox support is coming soon.
Why does it not work on the Chrome Web Store? +
Chrome blocks all extensions from running on its own pages โ including the Chrome Web Store, Chrome settings and any chrome:// pages. This is a Google security restriction that applies to every extension in existence, not just Vibe Overlay. Test it on any regular site like YouTube, Facebook, Reddit or X and it will work perfectly.
What sites work best? +
Vibe Overlay works on virtually any website you visit. Some great ones to try: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), Reddit, TikTok, Gmail, your favorite news site, Spotify Web Player, or any site you visit daily. The more you visit a site the more your overlay becomes part of the experience.
